Robin Van Persie joins Manchester United

Finally the RVP saga is over, Robin Van Persie is taking his talents to Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson has to be applauded for this coup but what does this say about Arsenal as a team?

Man Utd don’t need another midfielder with the return of two engine room players – Darren Fletcher and Tom Cleverley (who looked very sharp versus Italy having done a pre season with Team GB). Throw Vidic back in the mix I know where my money is for the title. They may have lost out to City last season but they look formidable with the return of those 3 and their new signings. Van Persie, Rooney, Welbeck, Hernandez represents a good enough 4 for me and you need that 4 to win trophies.

@Ugwuamyichigozie I dont think we have much choice lol
@Sam cleverly has looked very impressive and Vidic is a huge return. Fletcher they are not so sure as his timetable for return. If Anderson could stay fit that would be huge as I think he is a very good player, but only time will tell with that one

This one still hurts because he is now giving man utd the cutting edge that we need. If he hadn’t left we’d probably have all 9 points and man utd wud be rooney-less.

It would have been interesting to see our new look squad with RvP and Song still around. I think we could have had realistic title hopes

Why would you leave a clearly emerging club, to join one with singificant off pitch financial issues. A squad that needs a huge overhaul and is at their weekest for the past 15 years & that is no longer the darling of the FA to the extent that they are still able to gain 15 points evtra a season over the other title challenger though dubious refereeing decisions.

This is a huge mistake from RVP & he will realise it when he finishes in 4/5 with the prospect of having to qualify of the champs league next season. Sometimes you should ignore the cash!

      Wow strong argument Woodge.
It should be interesting to see if the season pans out as you say for united but no matter the squad with Alex Ferguson they are always in with a shout in any competition they enter.
Agrees the squad is weaker but too the same degree we seem to have been saying that since Ronaldo left and yet they keep winning.
